The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging lessons that inspire and motivate our IB Diploma and A Level students. This is a full-time role, reporting to the Head of Language & Literature, and starting on the 27th August. As an international boarding school for students aged 16-19, we have very high academic expectations of our students, and we are looking for a teacher who can help us meet these expectations while promoting a love of their subject specialism. Key responsibilities will include: Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in accordance with the relevant curriculum documents. IB Diploma English B IELTS Ensure that all lessons are well-planned in accordance with EF Academy Oxford’s Academic Policy and that unit plans are saved on the Academy network and available for monitoring in the classroom. Provide effective intervention to help students who are struggling with the course material. Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning, and adjust as necessary to improve student attainment. Ensure that all students receive high-quality formative feedback and that this is evident in marking. Implement subject-based intervention plans for underachieving students. Ensure that subject reports provide appropriate information regarding strengths, weaknesses, and strategies for improvement. Promote ESL-related academic/intellectual/cultural enrichment. Plan and teach additional literacy sessions for students struggling in English. Teach vocabulary and grammar as part of the course. In addition to the core teaching responsibilities, all teachers at EF Academy Oxford are expected to perform an Academic Tutor role, which involves providing guidance and support to a group of students. Teachers are also expected to run an after-school club or activity, as well as hold additional support sessions for students seeking clarification. Furthermore, occasional involvement in evening and weekend excursions, as well as student life activities, is considered an important part of the role, fostering a holistic educational experience for our students. Person Specification: Essential: A degree in a related field A recognised teaching qualification Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Strong organisational skills Experience in teaching English language Ability to work effectively as part of a team Ability to deliver high-quality lessons that engage and inspire students, and promote their progress towards individual, Faculty, and Academy targets A passion for teaching and a genuine interest in the subject area Enthusiastic, energetic, and creative Patient and empathetic towards students A commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and ethical conduct, in addition to promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment Desirable: Experience teaching English language in an international boarding school setting Experience in teaching English B (IB Diploma) Experience of teaching Theory of Knowledge (IB Diploma) Familiarity with the IB Diploma Programme and its assessment criteria A commitment to continuing professional development This is a full-time role with a competitive salary, stakeholder pension and lunch during working hours included.
