We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Wealstun, a  category C  Prison located in West Yorkshire.  

HMP Leicester is a Category B local prison holding men who are on remand as well as sentenced. It has an operational capacity of around 400. The prison is located in the City Centre and is a 15-minute walk from the station.

Hours

Monday - Friday - 0800 - 1600 - hours per week

Salary

This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to £46,200 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Substance Misuse Nurse your responsibilities will vary. You will Prioritising patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning. Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both a group and 1-1 setting with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model. Be able to carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users. Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects and liaise with prescribers. You will work with individuals, on a 1-1 basis, providing advice and information. Support in group work delivery and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions. Encourage patient involvement in regime and therapeutic activities and create a physical and psychological environment conducive to high quality care.

Registered nurse with current NMC registration Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD). RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake. Experience of working with opiate dependant patients. Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge. A non-judgmental and compassionate approach. Flexible attitude to working arrangements
