GSL Education are looking for an experienced enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Grantham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in this area to make a real difference in the lives of young people.


About the role:

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in creating a positive and nurturing learning environment. You will help create a nurturing environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional well-being while supporting their educational development.


Responsibilities of the SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide support to students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual support plans and strategies.
  • Help foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop individualised support plans.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback.
  • Support students during break times and extracurricular activities.
  • Help maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment.


Requirements of the SEMH Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience as an SEMH Teaching Assistant is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, or NVQ, are desirable but not essential.
  • Team Teach training is required.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of individual students.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Passion for working with children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
  • Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
