Winchester, United Kingdom Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job summary

A new and exciting opportunity for experienced Orthopaedic ACPs to join our developing team within the Central Hampshire Orthopaedic Hub is now available. The hub, situated in Royal Hampshire County Hospital (RHCH) in Winchester, will be the first of its kind within the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care System (ICS), to deliver a collaborative service for patients of multiple acute providers, in this case HHFT and UHS. This new development will comprise inpatient and day case areas, 2 theatres and a recovery space for lower limb arthroplasty patients supported by Consultant Orthopaedic Consultants from both Trusts and is planned to open in May 2025.

In building our team of 3 ACPs and 2 trainee ACPs for this exciting development, we are looking for a motivated experienced Orthopaedic ACP to commence from September to support and supervise the clinical development of 2 trainee ACPs already successfully recruited. The remaining 2 ACPs will be appointed in early 2025, of which the successful appointment into this role will be instrumental in supporting and team building.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be involved in establishing and delivering a high-quality service using state of the art models of care, for patients undergoing elective joint replacement surgery by facilitating an ambulatory lower limb arthroplasty pathway. In addition to clinical supervision of the trainees, you will work with key stakeholders to develop clinical pathways, audit and governance structures, that will establish a culture of innovation, productivity and constant improvement amongst the wider multidisciplinary team. Ultimately, this will result in the provision of medical care for day case and inpatient arthroplasty patients; the coordination of admissions and list planning; discharge planning and liaising with Anaesthetic and Surgical Consultants, escalating where appropriate.

If this role appeals and you have the required knowledge, experience, skills, motivation and resourcefulness we welcome your application.

We provide specialist services to people across the UK and internationally. We are one of only two centres in the UK treating pseudomyxoma peritonei (a rare form of abdominal cancer) and we are leaders in the field of tertiary liver cancer and colorectal cancer.

The Council of Governors represent the interests of their constituencies and influence the future plans of the Foundation Trust.
