About Us:

Role Overview:

At Jigsaw South Tyneside we provide support to young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We provide our clients assistance in gaining independence into their own general needs tenancies through pre-tenancy support, goal plans and outreach support.

This comes in the form of access to grants and benefits, EET, building on independent living skills, referrals for external support such as mental health and substance difficulties to name a few. We work collaboratively with our clients and promote the Depaul values in our daily working environment.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is interested in working with us as  Homeless Support Worker . This exciting job will avail you the opportunity to manage a caseload of clients, and share responsibility for the safety and well-being of all clients, volunteers and staff in the service.

You also will work in partnership with multiple agencies to support the wellbeing of clients and liaise with Depaul’s internal departments including Finance, HR, Fundraising and Business Development as necessary to ensure the smooth running of the service.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage a caseload of young people needing pre-tenancy support or homeless prevention support to achieve accommodation and wellbeing outcomes. Participate in drop in and Programmed sessions in the community Hub and other community venues as directed. Proactively work in partnership with multiple agencies including statutory teams, to support the wellbeing of Depaul clients in accordance with data protection and information sharing protocols. You will liaise with Depaul’s internal departments including Finance, HR, Fundraising and Business Development as necessary to ensure the smooth running of the service.

Please note that this job opportunity is offered as a full-time (37.5 hours a week), permanent role.

What We Are Looking For – Person Specification:

Experience of using Risk Assessments and Support Planning. Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills Experience of operating safeguarding requirements and procedures Ability to lone work and deal with challenging situations
