Apply now for the position of Mechanical Design Engineer Degree Apprentice and you will have the opportunity to understand and contribute to the process associated with the design and manufacture of superconducting magnets for MRI systems, alongside gaining a degree qualification. Your role: You will work as part of a team to support engineering design work for superconducting magnets (e.g. create 3D models, 2-D drawings, Bill of Materials, etc). You will work independently on projects to improve current designs and processes and contribute to New Product development and existing product upgrades. You will conduct design work, experiments, materials and prototype testing, analyse results and report on conclusions, both in written reports and verbally in meetings. You will support product concept development, design realisation and validation and manufacturing issue trouble shooting. You will study towards a Level 6 Degree qualification with an approved Apprenticeship provider alongside your role. About you: You will have an awareness of, and interest in, mechanical design function and the product development process within an engineering organisation. You will have an interest and aptitude in drawing and making things - experience of CAD drafting and/or modelling and using Solid Works, NX Team Centre or similar could be an advantage. You will possess technical analysis and problem-solving skills. You will possess good communication skills and a desire to work as part of a team to help solve problems and implement effective solutions. You will have (or be working towards) a minimum of two A-Levels at grade 6 (B) or above, including a mathematical-based subject and a science, technology, engineering or an additional mathematics-related subject – or an equivalent Level 3 Engineering BTEC/EAL Diploma at Distinction (Merit) Level or above.
