The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a healthcare setting and be able to perform a range of tasks. A phlebotomy certification is essential for this role.

We have a large patient population and have a large clinical and administrative team to serve them and support each other.

Main duties of the job

This role will support the practice nursing team in the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, and delivering care within their scope of practice to the patient population.

The successful Healthcare Assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.

Job responsibilities

Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the Healthcare Assistant. There maybe on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependentupon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately Undertakenew patient health checks Supportthe practice nurse with health promotion programmes Facilitateroutine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly Supportthe practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics Carryout BMI checks as directed Actas a chaperone as required Undertake venepuncture When trained, undertake wound care and dressings Whentrained, administer flu vaccinations Whentrained, carry out ear irrigation under the supervision of the practice nurse Carryout ECGs as requested Ensurespecimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation Providesupport during minor operations as required Ensureall clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session Ensurefridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with guidance Ensureclinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced inaccordance with the practice IPC policy Deliver opportunistic health promotion whereappropriate Person Specification
