National Highways has an exciting opportunity for a Project Controls Manager to join our Regional Investment Programme (RIP) as part of our Major Projects (MP) division. This role will be based at our Birmingham office.

The Project Controls Manager will play a crucial role in Cost Management and Earned Value within the Regional Programme. They will assure the cost management principles are followed and projects are compliant to cost management processes and procedures.

You will assure the data quality and compliance with IPC processes and prompt early intervention from Project Managers and Programme Leaders and Directors where Key Performance Data identifies threats to delivery.

What you’ll be leading on

Provide and utilise project controls expertise to identify best practices and recommending improvement actions where there are challenges; to support continuous improvement and support Cost Management / Earned Value. Lead on cost review sessions, analysis and verification of project and regional reports, ensuring the data accurately reflects the current project performance for onwards reporting.  Work collaboratively within PMO to define Best Practice and Business Performance improvement including integrated baseline management planning and scheduling, risk management, performance analysis and reporting. Embedding baseline management & change control To ensure data integrity to enhance the benefits of an integrated project controls environment and analyse cross functional performance. Support in wider operation of the PMO and cover for the Regional PMO manger as required.

To be successful you’ll need 

Operational experience of working in a project or programme controls environment Demonstrable experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders to drive improved project performance Experience in using analysis of project controls data to inform business decision making Ability to work confidently and proactively on own initiative to resolve challenges and meet deadlines Ability to deal constructively with working in a fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities. Experience of PRISM is desirable.
