This exciting role within the School of Human and Social Sciences is for a Lecturer who will contribute to teaching and module leadership on our Criminology and Forensic Studies courses. The latter course has achieved Conditional Educational Accreditation from the (CSFS). Expertise in CSI and/or Forensic Science work is essential given the focus on two component standards (from the CSFS):
Interpretation, Evaluation and Presentation of Evidence (IEPE): The evaluation of a scene or laboratory submission within a quality management system is important to formulate the forensic strategy and subsequent work. This leads to an interpretation to inform an investigation and the courts of law in oral or written evidence in a way that conveys the strengths and limitations in a confident, and consistent manner.
CSI is fundamental in ensuring the efficacy of subsequent forensic examination or analysis. In many cases, it is impossible for interpretation to overcome shortcomings introduced at the CSI stage. Therefore, students should be equipped with both a theoretical and practical knowledge of sound crime scene processing techniques.
The role requires the individual to teach and support by adopting a learner-centred approach, delivering a first-class student experience involving practical, applied activities. Additionally, they will be required to undertake curriculum development, professional practice, enterprise activity and research.
