Job summary

This is an exciting secondment opportunity for an experienced simulation practitioner to join the medical education team and support simulation training for medical students and junior doctors.

The post is for a band 6 practitioner working across HHFT at WTE. The simulation team is currently being expanded to accommodate the increase in medical students and foundation doctors numbers in particular. There are two consultants leading the simulation team (Dr Harrison and Dr Anns) and a band 4 simulation practitioner.

Main duties of the job

The simulation team is part of the wider medical education and staffing team and the practitioner will also be working alongside two medical education fellows and three clinical teaching fellows and a faculty of educators.

The simulation team is responsible for providing a medical simulation service within HHFT and the Simulation Practitioner will work closely with all team members, fellows, simulation faculty and be responsible for contributing to the design, delivery and debriefing of simulation-based education for a medical staff and students.

Qualifications

Essential

Chartered member of a relevant professional body NMC / HCPC. Teaching qualification or relevant experience BSc Degree in relevant field or relevant experience

Desirable

RCUK - ALS Provider / Instructor Post registration qualification for speciality area.

Experience

Essential

Evidence of team leadership and change management. Evidence of post registration continuous personal and professional development Experience of providing education, both formally and informally.

Desirable

Experience of supporting in the design and delivery of simulation based education.

Skills

Essential

Knowledge of simulation based education and standards Excellent communication and interpersonal skills IT literate. Effective leadership and team building skills

Desirable

Understand the principles and application of effective staff and budgetary management. Coaching and mentoring skills.
