Main duties of the job

We are seeking to recruit enthusiastic Carer Link Workers to join the community teams based across Essex. The teams use a multi-disciplinary approach to provide care, promote recovery, independence and social inclusion for people of all ages who are experiencing a mental health illness. This post would be to work with the carers or next of kin of the service users and support them. This is an excellent opportunity to develop and further skills working with this client group in the community.

Our EPUT NHS staff bank is an entity managed by the trust that hires clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals to take on shifts at our trust hospitals and community settings. Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.

All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

The post holder will be working with Community Mental Health teams, and alongside care coordinators, enabling carers to have access to assessment of their needs, in accordance with the Care Act, 2014 and services personalised to meet those needs.

The post holder will work with carers and families of people with mental health needs, using a strength-based approach by connecting carers to the assets within their communities, building resilience.

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

Essential

NVQ Level 3 Health or Social Care or equivalent. Good written and spoken English

Desirable

NVQ assessor units

Knowledge

Essential

Understanding of working with diverse populations, and diverse backgrounds Understanding carers rights under the Care Act , 2014 Understanding of Equality Act, 2010 Basic understanding of the nature of mental health conditions and how it can affect people's day to day life. Understanding of working within a multi-disciplinary health, social care in a community setting.

Desirable

Knowledge of the Children's Act Knowledge of the impact of social determinants of health and wellbeing Knowledge of issues affecting specific groups of carers - young carers, parent carers, dual diagnoses, etc.
