Job Details

The post-holder will be attached to the Complex Trauma and Limb reconstruction Team, and will be able to spend a considerable amount of time in theatre and Complex Trauma clinics, with opportunities to undertake cases under appropriate supervision. The post-holder will be expected to undertake research resulting in publication. This post holder will also be involved in the weekend operating rota.

Main duties of the job

A Senior Trauma Fellow is required in the Trauma & Orthopaedic department to work closely with the Complex Trauma and Limb Reconstruction Team. An appointment will be made for the successful candidate to start in October 2025 and October 2026 for 12 months

St George's Healthcare NHS Trust is one of the largest teaching hospitals in the UK, closely integrated to the St George's Hospital Medical School, part of the University of London. We are a joint cancer centre with the Royal Marsden and one of the key providers of secondary and tertiary services in SW London. We are one of the few Trusts in England to provide both acute neurosciences and cardiothoracic services on one site.The post holder should have FRCS or equivalent and be post-CCT level. The post-holder will be attached to the Complex Trauma and Limb Reconstruction Team, and will be able to spend a considerable amount of time in theatre and Complex trauma clinics, with opportunities to undertake cases under appropriate supervision. The post-holder will be expected to undertake research resulting in publication. The post holder will work closely with the current complex trauma team and will support and develop the existing and well established services.

About us

The Trauma & Orthopaedic Care Group currently has 22 Orthopaedic Surgeons. In addition to providing elective and trauma services to its local population the Trauma & Orthopaedic Care Group offers several tertiary services including pelvic and acetabular reconstruction, limb reconstruction, complex hip and knee arthroplasty and spinal surgery.

Trauma & Orthopaedic facilities at St George's Healthcare NHS Trust include 2 dedicated orthopaedic wards (48 beds in total), a rehabilitation gym, a purpose built fracture clinic co-located with A& E and 3 dedicated orthopaedic theatres. The facilities are all located in the St James's Wing of St George's Hospital.
