Working within our forward-thinking Strategic Networks department, you have the chance to join the team as a Large Diameter Mains Senior Technician where you’ll be working closely with the Team manager to ensure Severn Trent’s Water Network assets deliver a continuous supply of potable water to our customers through our infrastructure. This role also covers the River Severn Aqueduct which supplies circa mld of potable water a day for our customers.

The role will be to ensure we meet our Key Business objectives Safer Better & Faster, including the Production Principles – protecting the environment, a proactive mind-set, technical expertise and driving highest site standards. The role will give you the opportunity to be outdoors, you will find yourself in urban and rural settings so you will be provided with equipment, facing difference challenges each day.

This key role in the team supports, the team manager with health and safety compliance and asset improvements. This will include identifying and implementing improvements. Furthermore, you would be expected to create/review contingency plans and manage contractors and suppliers.

You will also be part of an out of hours standby cover rota.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

To be successful in this role, you will have IOSH (Operations) and MCS (Managing Contractors/Suppliers) qualifications, as well as a full driving license, all of which are essential. Additionally, it is desirable for you to be a confined space assessor and hold an SMSTS qualification. 

Your key accountabilities in helping us will be:

Enable the team to manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of wholesale assets through allocated resources (people, capital assets, IT and finance). Ensure that the operation and maintenance of water Network Assets, Inc the River Severn Aqueduct and the Strategic Grid /Trunk mains network deliver full compliance with all regulatory and company requirements. Consistent use and application of standardised practices and procedures for the management of H&S risk and quality problems, with full adherence to and promotion of the Company principles. Support local operator and maintenance teams in the development of cost saving, optimisation, and improvement activities. Assist the team manager with capital project work and liaising with Asset Creation with technical support through meetings or onsite support. Provide cover (as and when appropriate) for the team manager.
