Job summary

We are looking to recruit a Consultant Physician with an interest in Gastroenterology to join our team at Bronglais General Hospital, Aberystwyth.

We are looking for a motivated and committed individual who will provide a high quality gastroenterology and endoscopic service and join colleagues in a very dynamic and forward thinking team.

The successful candidate will need to be comfortable with all aspects of gastroenterology and take part in the consultant general medicine on call rota which is currently 1:10.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will:

Provide a comprehensive gastroenterology service

Offer acute inpatient assessment and treatment

Deliver outpatient clinics and procedures in accordance with the contractual requirements within the parameters of the Health Board's objectives.

And support the development and delivery of a sub-specialty service in hospital and in the community.

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Qualifications

Essential

Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT due within 6 months of interview date Or CESR or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration MRCP Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills

Desirable

Appropriate Higher Degree MD, PhD or MSc or equivalent

Clinical Experience

Essential

Broad based experience in General Medicine and Gastroenterology Knowledge of UK hospital systems (or equivalent) Knowledge and participation in CPD Competent in all modalities of diagnostic gastrointestinal endoscopy Safe and effective written and verbal communication skills Knowledge and experience of communicating bad news Meet the requirement of the GMC's "Good Medical Practice"

Experience of NHS Wider experience, research and training in providing sub speciality service Additional clinical qualification(s)

Clinical Governance
