Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic Specialty Doctor in Oncology to join our team at Torbay.
This post is to complement upcoming workforce changes and develop new models of care across the Peninsula. This is a full time, fixed term position of 10 PA's per week for a period of 12 months initially.
Main duties of the job
The oncology specialty doctor role is integral to the provision of safe and timely care to cancer patients, primarily in the Turner Ward inpatient setting and in the nurse led chemotherapy day unit but also in the provision of support to consultants in outpatient clinics and the achievement of cancer waiting time targets.
The post holder is required to actively participate in the supervision and training of the junior doctor staff and to assist with the rota. The specialty doctor is vital to the continued success of the nurse led telephone triage service which has resulted in increasing numbers of patients presenting to the day unit for urgent oncological review, thus reducing admission via A&E. You would be expected to work at your level of experience.

Torbay Hospital is a medium-sized, progressive and innovative District General Hospital providing acute services to South Devon.
