Job Description

In this role, you will oversee the entire site maintenance function. The primary objective is to maximise our plant and equipment reliability and performance, effectively manage and develop the maintenance team, and maintain cost control. This is a challenging management position. We are seeking a qualified engineer with proven management or supervisory experience in a large industrial or manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will bring best practice experience, competence in asset management and plant/equipment control systems, and the ability to challenge existing structures, systems, and methods.

About The Role

Duties

Daily management / supervision of a team of 20+ Mechanical Engineers

Train, develop, mentor and motivate the mechanical team to achieve the department KPIs

Minimise equipment downtime to ensure the factory runs as effectively as possible

Participate in equipment upgrades to support operational efficiency

Support factory expansion and new equipment installation projects

Ensure adherence to safe working practices and departmental housekeeping standards

Co-ordinate inspection and testing of equipment to ensure compliance with HS&E regulatory requirements

Manage Mechanical department costs within agreed budgets

Technical liaison with suppliers / equipment manufacturers

Spare part management / sourcing

Desired Criteria

  • Ideally hold a third level qualification in an Engineering Discipline ( HND / Degree )
  • Ideally have autocad / 2D design experience

Required Criteria

  • Previous experience of managing / supervising a maintenance team within a manufacturing environment
  • Operationally focussed with a track record of delivering results
  • Proven track record of building, mentoring and motivating a team of engineers
  • Practical experience of the application of modern maintenance and manufacturing methodologies, such as TPM, 5s, Reliability centred maintenance
  • Experience of problem-solving techniques / root cause analysis such as 5 Why, six Sigma
  • Good working knowledge of Project Management, Health and Safety and Budgetary controls
  • Experience of managing a diverse range of suppliers
  • Experience of delivering training and upskilling a team of engineers / apprentices.
  • Financially competent and experienced in the preparation and monitoring of budgets
  • Highly IT literate
  • Ideally have experience an IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
