The site is easily accessible from Leicester, Melton Mowbray, Castle Donnington, Loughborough, Ashby De La Zouch, Coalville, Markfield, Market Bosworth, Syston, Shepshed, Barrow upon Soar, Ratby and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility
As the successful GIS Technician you will report to the Senior Data Manager and will be responsible for creating drawings and plans to meet the varying needs of both internal and external clients, managing and maintaining the departmental GIS master dataset and identifying problems whilst providing input, advice and implementation as appropriate of GIS-based solutions.
On a day to day basis, duties and responsibilities of the GIS Technician will include (not exhaustive):
Consulting clients and suppliers to ascertain project purpose, needs and information Providing training for the GIS software Building, publishing and optimizing services whilst serving out data both created and required by customers Supporting the development and maintenance of GIS software packages Creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures and process flows Evaluating the functionality of systems Keeping up to date with new technology Working on the maintenance and development of best practise standards
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal GIS Technician will be a candidate who has a degree in Geography or a relevant subject and can show a sound knowledge of Land, Data and Mapping. You will be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and be able to converse with a wide variety of stakeholders.
Furthermore, if you have strong problem-solving skills, have experience in programming (Python and Javascript would be a bonus) and have a good level of financial understanding and awareness, this would be beneficial in your application.
