Moody’s RMS is the world's leading provider of analytics and decision science solutions for the quantification and management of catastrophic and climate risks throughout the world. We are the pioneers in the development and application of modelling methods for the quantification of natural hazard risk, and our risk models are the most detailed and comprehensive produced anywhere in the world. Our clients include several hundred insurance and reinsurance companies, as well as brokers, banks, investors, asset managers, hedge funds, regional and local governments, and multilateral agencies.

We are seeking a Model Product Manager to engage in activities that drive the commercial success of Moody’s RMS’ global peril models. These role will focus on expanding our modeling capabilities and climate change solutions to new territories beyond the current Moody’s RMS model suite.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ownership of the Moody’s RMS global peril models product, including acute and chronic physical risk for present and future climates, supporting a globally unified view of physical climate risk
  • Identify the (re)insurance market opportunity for our global peril models, lead the definition of product requirements and implementation, define packaging and pricing to drive commercial success
  • Identify non-insurance market opportunities, coordinating with internal stakeholders to define appropriate methodologies for the integration of RMS’ global peril models into Moody’s product solutions
  • Support marketing and thought leadership efforts for RMS’ physical climate capabilities which articulate the value and competitive distinction of the RMS modeling approach
  • Provide physical climate risk model technical expertise, supporting clients’ understanding and usage of the models
  • Collaboration across a wide range of Moody’s Analytics teams, including modelling, software, consulting,  product, marketing, sales and client relationship managers to develop successful climate risk products and solutions

 

Required qualifications and skills

  • The ideal candidate will hold a MSc or PhD in a climate-related field such as climate science, meteorology or related, with a deep interest in the application of climate science into financial services decision making  
  • Highly analytical with 5+ years experience in climate risk analytics in financial services, and/or catastrophe modelling
  • A deep interest in understanding end-user business needs, market trends and driving successful products into Insurance, Banking or other relevant markets 
  • Able to lead multiple projects across international cross-functional teams, have excellent organization and time management skills, and be able to build solid relationships
  • Excellent communication skills and versatility in engaging in technical subjects to a varied client base, with the ability to explain technical subjects to non-technical and business end-users
  • A consultative approach to internal and client interactions and ability to manage conflicting inputs and handling changing priorities effectively
  • An excellent team player with a high-degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently
  • Strong data analysis and presentation skills
  • Product management experience is an advantage but not essential
  • Some travel may be required
