Reporting to the Director of Group Financial Reporting, you will be a key member of the Group finance team who’s primarily responsibility is the production of the consolidated Group’s financial reporting. You will own key processes within the statutory reporting cycle, lead on technical and complex accounting transactions, produce analysis for the Group’s management reporting and work with regional finance teams by advising on the application of the Group’s accounting policies and IFRS. This role would suit an ambitious individual who is adaptable, can manage their own workload and able to perform well within a fast-paced working environment. A background in audit or technical accounting would be beneficial.
Role Responsibilities
Prepare and review the Group’s statutory reporting by updating reporting templates and reviewing disclosures to ensure compliant with IFRS;
Assisting with delivery of the Group audit preparing audit deliverables;
Liaise with external audit team to walk them through new complex accounting policies and revisions thereof to obtain auditor acceptance of the proposed interpretation and accounting treatment;
Research and advise on interpretation and implementation of new regulatory and reporting standards and amendments;
Review and advise on impact of new business transactions to provide accounting advice to wider finance and operational teams to ensure compliance with IFRS;
Lead purchase price allocation (‘PPA’) projects working with external advisors to ensure PPA journals and disclosures available for audit;
Prepare workings for the Group’s management incentive plans ensuring compliance with IFRS 2;
Lead on application of Group‘s hedge accounting policy to ensure accounting entries are compliant with IFRS;
Lead on preparation of technical accounting policy papers;
Provide inputs to the the quarterly Group Finance paper for the Group’s Audit Committee;
Prepare key analysis for the Group on profitability and margin;
Assist wider group finance team to achieve objectives of the group finance function. This will include ad-hoc project work and the provision of timely financial information to inform strategic decision making throughout the year.
Performance Assessment
Informed strategic decisions are made with accurate and relevant accounting interpretations understood;
Clean audit process for new and complex accounting policy applications and interpretations;
Able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and problem solving capabilities;
Reporting deliverables and other ad-hoc reporting requests delivered in a timely manner to a high standard;
Help improve understanding of IFRS across the Group’s finance teams;
Improved quality and consistency of Group’s accounting memos and financial statement disclosures.
Requirements
Qualified accountant (CA, ACCA or equivalent);
Significant experience in statutory account preparation under IFRS;
Working knowledge of US GAAP (desired but not essential);
Previous experience in an Auditing and Accounting role with exposure to the Financial Services industry;
Comfortable managing own workload to ensure deadlines are met;
Excellent communication skills, interacting with people at all levels and across all departments;
Proven ability to manage competing priorities.
Personal commitment to high quality work and able to demonstrate good attention to detail;
