The Specialist Perinatal Service consists of a community and inpatient services. The services are collocated and provide mental health care to women and birthing persons, birthing partners, infants and the wider family system, The SP-CMHT supports Swansea Bay UHB and Uned Gobaith provides an All-Wales service.

The Specialist Perinatal Service are multi-disciplinary. As a specialist service we provide interventions through a trauma-informed perspective on complex cases with individual’s dealing with moderate to severe mental health challenges.

We are wanting to recruit an enthusiastic, dynamic, highly-motivated individual to the following role: 0.6 WTE Band 7/8a (Preceptorship Pathway available) practitioner psychologist to work across the service.

We invite applications from a Clinical or Counselling Psychology background and we also invite those in their final year of a Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology Training.

The individual will need to demonstrate excellent clinical and leadership skills and have relevant knowledge and experience to enable them to further develop and sustain a high quality, compassionate and person-centred psychology provision within the Specialist Perinatal Service.

The service actively participates in training, research and service development and the individual will be actively encouraged to support these areas. The successful individual will also be able to access EMDR and VIG accredited supervision within the service.

Main duties of the job

To provide a specialised clinical psychology service to clients within specialist perinatal mental health services.

To work autonomously in accordance with The British Psychological Society Code of Conduct, Ethical Principles and Guidelines 2004, and Health and Care Professions Council.

Within the team, to exercise delegated responsibility for the management and supervision of assistant psychologists and the workload of trainees, within the framework of the team/service policies and procedures.

To contribute to the development of local team policies and procedures in order to facilitate improvement in service quality.

To advise service and professional management on aspects of the service related to the team where psychological and/or organisational matters need addressing.

To provide professional and clinical supervision for designated staff, as appropriate.

To provide clinical placements and supervision for Doctoral level trainee clinical/counselling psychologists and to deliver training to other professionals.

To utilise specialised research skills for audit, policy and service development, and research.

To act as a panel member in the recruitment of designated staff, as appropriate.

Essential criteria

Good honours degree in Psychology Post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent) as accredited by the British Psychological Society Registration with HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist

Desirable criteria

Knowledge of theory and practice of using specialised psychological therapies with a relevant population

Experience

Experience of specialisied psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a wide range of care settings Experience of working with clients across the lifespan
