1. The Department

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Club Journalist to join our Content and Digital Department. The post holder will join a dynamic and fast-paced environment within the editorial team – alongside the wider content department (social media, video and photography) delivering outstanding coverage that resonates with our fanbase. 

2. The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Club Journalist who can reliably assist with day-to-day content output across Aston Villa’s official website, helping to provide unified coverage of the club to our fans – especially as we celebrate our 150th anniversary.

Covering the men’s first team, U21s and U18s, you will play a pivotal role in creating editorial content for our official website, assisting with the creation and delivery of news articles, interviews, match reports, previews, features and more.

You will assist with matchday coverage across the men’s first team and Academy, as well as contributing to the planning process by helping to generate engaging, innovative, and exciting content ideas.

3. The Person

You will have demonstrable journalistic experience as well as experience working within a football/sporting environment covering live events. You will need to have experience of content management systems (CMS) for the delivery of editorial coverage, alongside the ability to manage multiple creative projects in an organised and efficient manner.

With a proactive, can-do attitude, you must be able to make effective and quick decisions in a fast-paced sporting environment to meet demands and tight deadlines.

Experience with Adobe Suite and a graduate level qualification/training in journalism and/or media (or equivalent) is desirable.

You must also be available to work flexibly as this role will require you to work evenings and weekends and hold a full UK driving licence.
