Prescribing & Recalls Administrator

Lister Medical Centre has an opportunity for a prescribing and recalls administrator to join our busy prescribing team, at the heart of our patient care service. This role is offered on part-time basis, for 33 hours per week working the following shift pattern
Monday to 5pm Tuesday to 1pm Wednesday to 5pm Thursday to 1pm Friday to 5pm The main responsibilities of the role include: Process repeat prescriptions on a daily basis and raise blood request forms as appropriate, ensuring compliance with the practice protocol. Ensure all current medication have relevant, current authorisations. Re-authorise repeat prescriptions where necessary in line with the practice protocol. Be the main point of contact for all prescription queries from a range of healthcare professionals including; GP’s, nurses, community pharmacists, nursing home staff as well as reception/administration staff at the practice and patients. Ensure that expiry dates on repeat prescriptions are harmonised for each patient. In liaison with the clinical pharmacist, monitor specific drugs for overuse and report findings to the relevant GP. Communicate with new doctors in medication review protocols and practice formulary choices. Update existing doctors in new protocol developments. Advise the clinical pharmacist and GPs when patient medication reviews are required. Attend medicine management meetings and other practice meetings when requested to do so. Generate patient recall letters for smears as required. Complete patient recall letters if required and cover the recall clerk during annual leave and absences. Responsible for managing and producing recall letters for long term patient conditions. Arrange and print patient blood test forms. Scan and data entry of paper documents. Computer data input. Photocopying as and when required by the practice. The above list of duties is not exhaustive and may be subject to change as deemed necessary. Please see attached for further information. About the CandidateThe ideal candidate will:
possess experience of working in a busy, public environment. be flexible, with a positive attitude. Have a good standard of general education with minimum grades in Maths & English or equivalent Computer literacy able to produce a wide range of documents Able to investigate complex queries and anomalies when required. demonstrate good team working and communication skills. demonstrate an excellent standard of patient care. Awareness of data protection and confidentiality General practice experience and knowledge ofSystmOne would be an advantage.
