About the role

This role is a key member of the Finance leadership team, reporting directly into the Chief Financial Officer. The role is responsible for several critical areas for the Group, which includes:

Internal performance and external investor relations reporting : Producing analysis for the Senior Leadership Team (‘SLT’) and the Board in order to assess business/project performance and support business growth. Creation of presentations and announcements to support the quarterly performance reporting to the Group’s debt investors (as part of the management of investor relations) – the company’s senior secured notes are listed and trade on The International Stock Exchange (‘TISE’).  Business partnering : Work closely with individual business units on projects to analyse business performance/ strategies and seek out value-accretive opportunities for the company to grow or make operational efficiencies. Contribute towards ad hoc corporate projects, assessing and modelling potential outcomes with a view to optimising return on investment or cost management. Commercial planning : Based on a sound understanding of the company’s varying business units, support the company’s planning process by helping to set group-wide and business unit level commercial assumptions. Provide targeted financial modelling and discussion where necessary to operational business leads. The role will review and challenge the business submissions and support the Executive Directors with their reviews by providing summary reports and analysis as required. The Senior Manager – Commercial Analysis works closely with the Financial Controller and the wider Finance team, with the Finance team ultimately preparing the plan financial statements for each unit, region and the Group. Treasury : receive updated cashflow forecasts from the Group Reporting Manager and manage the Group’s cash balances in line with Pinewood’s treasury policy. The role will also deliver plans and information to support the annual review by the Rating Agencies.

The role is an advocate for change, supporting the business in the creation of value and enhancing reporting capability by further developing ways of working, systems and automation.

Whilst there are no ongoing direct reports to this role, it holds a position of seniority in the team alongside the Financial Controller and will supervise other Finance team members on projects and activities on an ad hoc basis according to business requirements. Equally, the role also holds a level of seniority in the company such that it will operate as an advisor to individual business teams and will coordinate project activity within those teams from time to time. As a result, the role-holder will have exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills. The Senior Manager - Commercial Analysis interfaces frequently with the Financial Controller, senior finance, IT and business colleagues, Senior Leadership Team members and external contacts.

Key accountabilities

Remain ‘close’ to the business, understanding commercial and operational drivers. Summarise and report on the drivers of business performance (P&L, capex programme, cash flow and net debt) to inform the SLT and the Board. Prepare Investor Relations analysis, announcements and presentations for the quarterly earnings calls with our debt investors/ financial markets. Support the CEO and CFO by preparing data packs and Q&A materials in advance of each call. Create first draft responses to ad hoc follow-up queries from investors. Based on a sound business understanding, annually, prepare and finalise the front-half narrative of the Group’s consolidated financial statements. Drive the commercial aspects of the Group’s planning processes (budget and forecasts) in liaison with the Financial Controller and the varying business units. The role is responsible for the drafting of business unit level and group-wide commercial assumptions – ensuring that targets are challenging but realistic. The role will provide targeted financial modelling and discussion where necessary to business leads and will review and challenge their P&L/ capex submissions. The role will support the Exec Directors’ review by providing summary reporting and analysis. The role works closely with the Financial Controller and the finance teams, with the Financial Controller and finance teams preparing the plan financial statements for each region and the Group. The role subsequently prepares a summary presentation to support Board approval of the plan. Manage the Group’s cash balances in line with Pinewood’s treasury policy, to minimise credit risk and optimise financial return. Deliver this in conjunction with a solid awareness of latest capex estimates and operating performance updates. Prepare presentation to support the rating agencies’ annual reviews, using a current forecast. Draft Q&A for the meetings and support the CEO/CFO in discussing performance information.  A business partner to the Post-production, TV and Facility Services teams, with targeted support for the Studio General Managers.  Work with the CFO and our banks/lawyers to raise any funding required to further develop the Group. Includes drafting of offering memoranda and creation of presentations for rating agencies and roadshow Ad hoc activities such as project analysis, reporting to productions as required, supporting restructuring activities linked with M&A, bonus scheme reporting etc.

Skills and experience

Degree level education or equivalent experience. Relevant financial qualification (ACA/ ACCA/ ACMA/ CFA) or equivalent comprehensive experience in financial analysis. Extensive experience in business analysis and performance reporting. Financial modelling skills. Background in business partnering and driving value within a business. External reporting to parties such as banks and rating agencies. Advanced Excel and Power Point skills. Strong across all other MS Office applications. Exposure to Financial systems. A self-starter, who forward plans and completes work to their deadline. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with an analytical mindset. Commercial capability, providing the best outcome for the business. Ability to pinpoint salient issues and present information concisely. Passion for driving profitability. Problem solving capability. Excellent communication and influencing skills for a wide range of internal & external audiences. Experience leading forecasting processes or working with Investor Relations desirable but not essential.

Role location: Pinewood Studios with the option to work one day per week from home. Discretionary annual bonus of up to 15% based on Company and individual performance. 25 days’ holiday as standard with the option to buy 3 additional days, plus English public holidays.
