We are growing and have an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Technical Manager to provide technical operational management across all areas of Rugby coverage for one of our primary clients on a 12-month fixed term basis.

Reporting into the Production Executive with a dotted line to our Head of Creative & Post Production, this would be a great position for someone who has project management experience, strong organisation skills and is a true team player.

What you’ll be doing…

Providing technical support for our in-house Post-Production infrastructure:

  • Supporting the media team with technical knowledge of QNAP Servers and Edit suites.
  • Supporting our Development team with technical analysis, workflows and plans for new shows and events.
  • Reviewing/approving quotes and contract technical third-party providers.
  • Forward planning and exploring tech innovation.
  • Arranging demos for any new tech that might be of interest to the Editorial teams.

Working on TNT Sport Rugby portfolio:

  • Managing all technical aspects e.g.
  • Weekly debriefs with WBD
  • Booking Circuits etc.
  • Reviewing changes to camera plans and EVS specs. 
  • Reviewing Event Technical and Production Manager reports and handling any required actions.
  • Being the main point of contact for all Planning Tech Meetings with EMG prior to each live weekend/match and debrief meetings if required afterwards.
  • Overseeing and attending recces where a technical requirement is required across all tournaments.
  • Managing freelance Technical Managers for OBs and the ROC.
  • Booking TMs where required and regularly communicating with the freelance TM team to ensure alignment and consistency.
  • Addressing any issues raised by the freelance TM team.
  • Undertaking some budget responsibility to ensure targets are hit across the tournaments.
  • Working closely with PE and PM team to address any budget or logistical/planning issues.
  • Being onsite for some match weekends where required either on OBs or at the ROC.

Requirements

Who you are…

  • We’d love you to have experience of client liaison and building positive relationships; particularly with WBD, EMG and other third-party providers.
  • You have extensive experience in technical infrastructure, connectivity, operations, and broadcast of Live Sport OB’s.
  • You’re experienced in project management, in particular technical infrastructure workflows for TV Broadcast.
  • You’re able to work under pressure whilst maintaining a high-quality output.
  • You’ve dealt with broadcasters, stakeholders, and a range of personnel.
  • You are the conduit between Technical and Editorial areas with the ability to translate and summarise technical jargon into a simplified form.
  • You have strong communication skills and are quick thinking with a flexible and innovative approach.
  • You can request quotes and manage and forecast budget in detail – flagging if there are any concerns in a time effective manner.
  • You have a track record of commissioning, producing, and delivering high-quality impactful content.
  • You know the responsibilities in relation to rights and clearances, production and post-production workflows, insurance, and health & safety.
