Job overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced pharmacist to play a pivotal role in our service for patients within Women's Health, Children and Young People including Simmons House (Tier 4 CAMHS) and community services relating to these areas at Whittington Health NHS trust.

The post holder will be responsible for providing a high quality clinical pharmacy service to the Women and Children's ICSUs and input into the growing Women and Children's agendas.

The post holder will work closely both with our pharmacy team and the multidisciplinary teams to:

Provide and further develop high value clinical pharmacy services for patients admitted to Women and Children areas Contribute to the Women and Children's MDTs through multiple training sessions, Input into clinical guidelines, PGD development and service improvement work. Contribute pharmacy leadership to the Pharmacy Women and Children's team by supporting junior staff during rotations Work across the hospital-community interface to improve medicines management on transfer of care and improve patient safety. Develop integrated working with the community services providing pharmacy support to services including health visitors, community midwives, paediatric services and schools.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria

MPharm (or equivalent) Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Further post graduate qualification Diploma/MSc in Pharmacy Practice or Clinical Pharmacy, or equivalent

Desirable criteria

Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Independent Prescriber Member of relevant professional clinical groups (e.g. NPPG) Leadership or Management qualification

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria

Excellent organisational skills - themselves and others Good written and oral communication skills and able to communicate with patients and all grades of healthcare staff (verbally and in writing). Good negotiation skills and the ability to influence senior pharmacy and medical staff, the multidisciplinary team and management. Experience of supervising and training junior pharmacists and wider pharmacy team members Experience of providing education and training to pharmacy staff, nursing staff and doctors. Excellent problem solving skills. Ability to work under pressure and prioritise work Ability to evaluate and to plan service developments and to articulate their role in this process Excellent IT skills, including familiarity with Clinical Systems as a user and experience with various standard software packages (such as Microsoft Office) Ability to implement and manage change. Excellent numeracy skills

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria

Demonstrates a whole-system patient-focused approach to work. Experience of providing pharmacy services in a broad, wide ranging manner relating to Paediatrics and Women’s Health Experience of financial management of medicines expenditure within healthcare and specifically a hospital setting. Experience as a line manager Involvement in the writing of clinical guidelines and policies Significant experience of working in an acute hospital setting

Desirable criteria

An understanding of what integrated care is and how this applies to Pharmacy Knowledge of the wider NCL healthcare system and priorities An understanding of how digital tools / EPR functionality can improve clinical practice in the inpatient setting Experience of supporting the clinical provision of TPN, through collaborative working with the wider MDT and external production units Experience of managing and leading a team In depth understanding of the principles of Quality Improvement and change management
