Job summary
We are looking for an experienced part-time, band 6 or 7 neuro Occupational Therapist to join our highly developed, inter-disciplinary team. This position is for our Community Service, where you'll be expected to bring your own experience to make the post truly your own within a fast growing area of the business.
This role would require you to cover the Southampton area + a 2 hour radius around Southampton, though most clients will be based in Southampton.
Travel time will also be paid.
Considered part time for to 30 hours a week flexible working.
The ideal candidate will possess developed skills in providing directclinical care, holistic assessment,treatment, review and management of clients with physical, cognitive andpsychological impairments as a result of acquired brain injury. Individuals working with us will benefit from ongoing professional development opportunities. You will be supported and funded to pursue skill based/academic CPD programmes and regular opportunities to participate in in-service training. We provide services in our inpatient service and community settings providing a good case mix to work with and develop a wider range of skills.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be visiting clients within the community, in hospital and at Peartree House where you'll use evidencebased/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluatespecialist OT programmes for a complex caseload of adultswith acquired brain injury. This includes treating those with severe physical,cognitive and behavioural impairments and disabilities. They will provideOT in a variety of settings, including home and community to facilitate maximum community re-integration. You will need to demonstrateclinical reasoning skills in evaluating, analysing and comparing a range oftherapy options in relation to clinical outcomes and treat and progress clientcare to maximise rehabilitation potential. You will liaise with otherspecialist services as required and facilitate andplan safe discharges in conjunction with the MDT/appropriateagencies. The successful candidate will have post graduate experience in inpatient or community neurorehabilitation and be a car driver.

Through active inpatient neurologicalrehabilitation, community rehabilitation, slow stream rehabilitation and long-termcomplex care, we pride ourselves on providing goal-driven, patient-centredinterventions. The service focuses on managing a range of deficits caused by anacquired brain injury and neurological problems, with the aim of reintegrationinto community, family, social, education and work situations. Working in adepartment which offers a wide range of experience youwill be encouraged and supported to develop your clinical, teaching, and managerialskills. The role can be part time or full time. A comprehensive internal and external CPD programme is in place, and weoffer a competitive salary with opportunities to develop and be promoted to more senior roles in the service.

Ensure appropriatepathways of care and communication via liaison and referrals to other agenciesas required
Work as an autonomouspractitioner being professionally and legally accountable for all aspects ofwork, managing own caseload and maintaining accurate records
Work as an integralmember of the Interdisciplinary team to agreed systems and processes to producecommon rehabilitation goals as part of the rehabilitation programme
Clinically supervisejunior Occupational Therapy staff, assistants and students
Provide specialistadvice to other health care professionals, carers and family members
Demonstratecommitment to maintaining and improving clinical standards as set by nationaland regional bodies
Ongoing professional development
Takean active role in service development

Qualifications
Essential
Diploma/ Degree in Occupational Therapy HCPC Registration Evidence of completion of specialist courses within the field of neurological and stroke therapy
Experience
Essential
Postgraduate experience working with neurological conditions Evidence of completion of specialist courses within the field of neurological rehabilitation and possesses developed specialist knowledge Experience of assessment and treatment of complex and specialist cases within field of neurological therapy Possess skills for assessing, forming occupational diagnosis and providing treatment to patient caseload IT Skills use of word, excel, database, power point, email and internet use. CPD evidence of maintaining clinical skills and knowledge through clinical practice and formal education. Demonstrates understanding of complex relationship between physical, cognitive, psychological and social dimensions of illness. Knowledge of current legislation. Ability to conduct appropriate Risk Assessment Experience of supervising staff and students teaching A clean driving licence is required to enable use of company wheelchair accessible vehicles-
