We have an exciting opportunity for a band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our children’s community team for a 12 month FTC to cover maternity leave in Barts Health NHS Trust in Tower Hamlets. You will be based in Mile End Hospital. 

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain experience working within the following areas:

·Neurodevelopmental conditions; including CP, ASD, Learning Disability, and Neurodevelopmental Motor Disorders

·Opportunity to support the child’s participation goals in the home, school, nursery or other community settings. 

Children’s Occupational Therapy experience is not essential, but we are looking for an Occupational Therapist who has a solid understanding of the OT process.

Main duties of the job

·To provide client centered specialist Occupational Therapy advice and input to children and young people with developmental disabilities or other medical conditions affecting their occupational performance using the best available evidence base.

·To provide advice and support for other professionals, educational staff, parents and carers involved in addressing the occupational performance issues of children with a range of needs in the community.

Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy HCPC registered Evidence of continuing professional development Evidence of relevant postgraduate education and CPD

General post graduate occupational therapy experience of delivering therapy within an occupational performance framework Experience of multi-disciplinary working

Desirable criteria

Experience of working with children with developmental or other medical conditions Experience of working in social care Experience of service development Experience of working in schools/hospitals/community

Knowledge

Essential criteria

To demonstrate an awareness of professional practice issues in the field of children’s occupational therapy and/or new research/evidence Understand the legal responsibilities of the profession Awareness of current professional issues. Knowledge of essentials in delivering a quality service

Desirable criteria

Knowledge and experience of working with children and young people. Knowledge of the current national policy and legal context for children with disabilities Knowledge of essentials of client centred practice
