Job summary

We are delighted to be recruiting a Cancer Pharmacist to work closely with the Oncology and Haematology team.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic pharmacist to join our chemotherapy clinical team to lead the day to day running of the oncology pharmacy service.

As a lead you'll have proven experience in oncology and or haematology and it's important to have excellent communication and people skills. This role will allow you to develop your specialist pharmacy skills including writing clinical guidelines, maintaining the SACT prescribing system and understanding funding streams and commissioning process for high-cost drugs.

We are seeking a motivated individual who demonstrates commitment, accountability and is a positive role model for our chemotherapy clinical team.

Main duties of the job

v Provide professional leadership to the clinical chemotherapy service in accordance with the objectives set by NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Alliance, Assistant Director of Pharmacy Support Service and Director of Pharmacy

v be responsible for leading and developing the haematology/oncology pharmacy service to the Division of Diagnostic and Treatment Services in accordance with the priorities set by the Clinical Services Lead Pharmacist and the Clinical Director for Oncology/Haematology

v Act as a role model and provide an advanced clinical pharmacy role in the provision of pharmaceutical services to oncology/haematology patients

v Ensure the electronic prescribing system for chemotherapy is fit for purpose and supports the chemotherapy delivery

v Monitor SACT to ensure safe, appropriate and cost effective use of anti-cancer medicines

v Liaise with the technical services team to optimise the provision of pharmaceutical care to oncology/haematology patients and minimise waste

v Be the named lead intrathecal trainer

v Support the development of the governance and medicines risk management agenda

v Assist in designing pathways and guideline development and work collaboratively with other pharmacists involved in the delivery of the clinical pharmacy service

v Work closely with other senior staff in the department to ensure the delivery of an integrated pharmacy service
