Job summary

An excitingopportunity has arisen for a Housekeeping and Domestic Services Supervisor tojoin our friendly will take on the rewarding role of supportingthe management team within the Facilities Department based at FieldheadHospital, Wakefield.

In this busyrole you must be able to exercise effective leadership skills in managingperformance and directing the team. You will be required to communicate withward and departmental managers and will be responsible for monitoring qualitystandards, compliance and take or facilitate appropriate action as required. The abilityto lead, motivate and mentor staff is essential.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience, beable to plan in advance and be well organised. You must be flexible, reliableand hardworking with enhanced communication skills at all levels.

Experience in skills are essential to this role.

The post is subject to a shift pattern which includesevenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.

It is expected to provide cover at other areas within theTrust portfolio as required, therefore a full clean driving licence isessential.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist in the day to day organisation and supervision of our Housekeeping and Domestic teams, the main purpose is to ensure safe, effective and compliant cleaning and meal services are delivered and will be required to work to and maintain standards as set by the National Standards of Healthcare Cleanliness.

In this busy role you must beable to exercise effective leadership skills in managing performance anddirecting the FM cleaning services team. You will be required to communicatewith ward and departmental managers and will be responsible for monitoringquality standards, compliance and take or facilitate appropriate action asrequired.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To manage the provisionof Housekeeping Service, including the supervision and training of housekeepingstaff.

Authorising signatoryfor time sheets, overtime and sickness / absence forms.

Responsible for staffinglevels, organising staffing cover as needed.

Responsible formonitoring and recording stock levels of cleaning consumables and re-order asand when required.

Responsible for daily mealorders/stock rotation and meal distribution.

Liasing with the wardmanagers/staff to work in partnership to deliver the service required

Special Knowledge/Skills

Essential

Ability to motivate and encourage staff. Ability to liaise confidently with colleagues, staff and peers. Demonstrate good communication skills both written and verbal. Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise own workload and that of others. Proven experience of supervising employees within a service environment and maximising the performance of the team. Ability to work as a member of a team and promote team working. Ability to deliver on the job training. Demonstrable experience of customer service.

Qualifications

Essential

Award in Leadership and Management or equivalent (Level 3) or commitment to work towards.

Desirable

Certificate in Leadership & Management (Level 3) or equivalent. Level 2 Certificate in Control of Infection and Contamination (or equivalent). Level 2 Certificate in Food Hygiene.

Experience

Essential

Demonstrable supervisory experience. Working knowledge of Health & Safety and Risk Assessments. Basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Training

Essential

Commitment to undertake relevant training commensurate to the job role.

Physical Attributes

Essential

Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post. A satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years (subject to the need to act with fairness and equality of opportunity, particularly where the sickness is related to a disability and/or pregnancy).
