Applications are invited for the substantive position of Consultant Cardiologist based at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with some sessions at Barts Health NHS Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our established multi-disciplinary team.

Our department provides inpatient and outpatient cardiology services to the local community, in addition to providing cardiology support for other specialised services within the Trust. We are committed to providing high quality patient care and developing innovative service models.

Main duties of the job

The post will involve participation in the inpatient Heart Failure consultation service (1 week in 3), a weekly Red Cell Cardiology clinic and a weekly General Cardiology clinic. An important additional part of the post is managing outpatient referral triage for General Cardiology at UCLH (shared with another Consultant colleague).

There will 2 sessions per week (1 day) at BartsHealth NHS Trust, performing cardiac MRI scanning and reporting. Currently, the job plan also includes a commitment to providing inpatient liaison for the hospital's Cardio-Oncology service (1 in 2 rota). However, it is envisaged that this commitment will be temporary only and will change to a new, alternate week General Cardiology outpatient clinic.

Qualifications

Essential

MRCP or equivalent MBBS, or equivalent CCT (or within 6 months of date of interview) or equivalent in Cardiology

Desirable

Higher degree, MD/PhD KBA in cardiology

Knowledge and training

Essential

Competent and trained in aspects of general cardiology and in the management of heart failure patients High level knowledge and training in cardiac imaging (echocardiography) -BSE/ EACVI accreditation in TTE or equivalent Training in MRI (Level 2 SCMR/ EACVI level 2 accreditation in CMR)

Desirable

Training in MRI (Level 3 SCMR/ EACVI level 3 accreditation in CMR) or equivalent experience Subspecialty fellowship in Heart Failure or Imaging

Management/Audit Experience

Essential

Able to provide evidence of clinical audit and demonstrate understanding of impact and challenges this brings. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and awareness of current and future NHS challenges and strategy. Ability to support team members in business planning via collaboration and discussion.
