Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join ourNHS North East Lincolnshire Talking Therapies Service for Anxiety andDepression.

NHS Talking Therapies NorthEast Lincolnshire service is for people with common mental health problemsregistered to a GP within North East Lincolnshire. The service becameoperational in February 2008 and since 2009 NHS Talking Therapies (previouslyknown as Open Minds). We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and dedicatedHigh Intensity Therapist. We have one permanent hour post available. Thesuccessful applicant will work between office base, community locations andoption of some remote working. The role offers variety and comes with theopportunity to do further top up training, and specialise in an area ofinterest autism, perinatal or older people. THIS IS NOT A FULLY REMOTEPOST.

You must have a Post-graduatediploma in High Intensity Psychological Interventions and be an accreditedmember of the BABCP to be shortlisted for interview.

Main duties of the job

To provide evidence based CBTinterventions adhering to NICE guidelines to clients that present withdepression and anxiety disorders. To assess clients for suitability for talkingtherapies. Screen new referrals from internal and external sources, refer/signpostunsuitable clients to the correct services.

To work as part of a team tomeet national targets, including minimising waiting times and accessibility.Provide clinical supervision to other members of the team.

To attend regular clinical andmanagerial supervision and MDT's where appropriate.

To work independentlyaccording to an agreed plan and within the framework of Navigo's policies andprocedures.

Job description

Job responsibilities

CLINICAL

Accept referrals via agreedprotocols within the service (including protocols for managing self referrals).

Assess clients for suitabilityfor CBT or other Talking Therapy.

Make decisions on suitabilityof new referrals, adhering to the departments referral protocols, and referunsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent asnecessary.

Formulate, implement andevaluate therapy programmes for clients.

Educate and involve familymembers and others in treatment as necessary, conveying CBT formulations withsensitivity in easily understood language.

Adhere to an agreed activitycontract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinicalsessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensuretreatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.

Attend multi-disciplinarymeetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.

Complete all requirementsrelating to data collection within the service.

Keep coherent records of allclinical activity in line with service protocols

Work closely with othermembers of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements arein place to maintain a stepped care approach.

Assess and integrate issuessurrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process

Carry out clinical audits ofservice performance, including service user surveys and evaluations, and helpto collate and disseminate the results for feedback.

TRAINING AND SUPERVISION

Attend and fulfil all therequirements of the NHS Talking Therapies approved supervision training.

Supervise staff in theservice.

PROFESSIONAL

Ensure the maintenance ofstandards of practice according to the employer and any regulating, professionaland accrediting bodies (eg BPS, UKCP,BABCP), and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by thedepartment of health ( NHS plan, National Service Framework, NationalInstitute for Clinical Excellence).

Ensure that client confidentialityis protected at all times.

Be aware of, and keep up todate with advances in the spheres of CBT and other agreed psychologicaltherapies.

Ensure clear professionalobjectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with senior therapists on aregular basis as part of continuing professional development.

Attend clinical/managerialsupervision on a regular basis as agreed with Manager.

Participate in individualperformance review and respond to agreed objectives.

Keep up to date all records inrelation to and ensure personal development plan maintains up to datespecialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service deliverymodels/developments.

Attend relevant conferences /workshops in line with identified professional objectives.

ADVISORY / LIAISON

Provide an advisory service onmatters related to the practice and delivery of Cognitive Behavioural Therapyor other therapy to individuals/groups/committees across the Mental HealthTrust, Primary Care Trust and other voluntary agencies.

Promote and maintain linkswith Primary Care and Secondary Care Staff to help co-ordinate the provision ofan effective Psychological Therapies Service.

GENERAL

To contribute to thedevelopment of best practice within the service.

To maintain up-to-dateknowledge of legislation, national and local policies and procedures inrelation to Mental Health and Primary Care Services.
