Job Title: Nursery Practitioner
Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Nursery Practitioner to join our team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care and education to children aged 0-5 years in a nurturing and stimulating environment.
They should have a genuine love for working with children, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
This role requires creativity, patience, and a commitment to promoting the holistic development of each child.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for children to learn and grow.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities to support children's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
- Observe and assess children's progress, keeping accurate records of their development and any concerns.
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, maintaining open communication and collaboration.
- Support children's personal hygiene routines, including diapering/toileting, handwashing, and feeding.
- Promote positive behavior management techniques, fostering a respectful and inclusive atmosphere.
- Ensure that the nursery environment is clean, organized, and conducive to learning and play.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, including maintaining ratios, conducting risk assessments, and implementing emergency procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Act as a key worker for a designated group of children, providing individualized care and support as needed.
Requirements:
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years Education or equivalent (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 Diploma in Childcare and Education).
- Previous experience working with children aged 0-5 years in a nursery or early years setting.
- Sound knowledge of child development theories and best practices in early childhood education.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in English.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently, demonstrating initiative and flexibility.
- Positive attitude, patience, and a genuine passion for working with children.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, following safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations and willingness to undergo relevant training.
- Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance or willingness to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
- Safeguarding and Child Protection Training.
- Additional training in areas such as SEN (Special Educational Needs), behavior management, or language development.
- Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
