Role Overview:

As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will be integral in supporting students in their mathematical education. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Student Support: Working closely with students across different year groups to provide targeted assistance in understanding mathematical concepts, solving problems, and preparing for exams.
  • Classroom Assistance: Collaborating with the maths department to support teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons, ensuring all students are actively participating and understanding the material.
  • Small Group and One-on-One Tutoring: Providing additional help to students who may be struggling or need extra support, offering one-on-one or small group sessions to reinforce learning.
  • Lesson Preparation: Assisting in the preparation of lesson plans, resources, and materials, ensuring they are tailored to meet the needs of all students.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Helping to assess students' work, providing constructive feedback, and monitoring progress to help them reach their academic goals.
  • Intervention Programs: Supporting intervention initiatives aimed at raising attainment levels in maths, particularly for students who need extra guidance.
  • Mentorship: Acting as a mentor and role model for students, encouraging a positive attitude towards maths and helping to build their confidence in the subject.
  • Administrative Support: Assisting with various administrative tasks within the maths department, including maintaining student records and helping with data analysis.
  • Extracurricular Involvement: Supporting maths-related extracurricular activities, such as maths clubs or competitions, to further engage students outside the classroom.
  • Professional Development: Engaging in ongoing professional development opportunities provided by the school to enhance your skills and knowledge in educational support.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Maths or a related field.
  • A strong passion for mathematics and education, with the desire to inspire and support students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in helping students succeed.
  • Prior experience working with young people in an educational setting is advantageous but not essential.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to meet the needs of the school and its students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
