Job summary
The successful candidate will join our Interventional Supply Chain team within Theatres at The Alexandra Hospital. The individual will be required to undertakeefficient, accurate and timely Supply Chain duties in a busy, dynamic hospitalenvironment and will work alongside colleagues within Theatres and other departments when required. This will include complementing and interacting with the widerProcurement & Supply Chain teams, Clinical departments and Theatrefunctions.
Previous experience is desirable and preferably within ahospital environment. Good communication skills and knowledge of IT systems areessential.
Main duties of the job
The position involves using various IT systems utilisingboth desktop and handheld devices. The post covers a wide range of duties requiring accuracy and efficiency. These duties include receiving goods, stock rotation and replenishment, cycle counting, internal distributionand supporting the migration to a full Inventory Management system within theorganisation. The post holder will work closely with the wider Supply Chainteam but will also be required to work independently and unsupervised onoccasion.
This position can be physically demanding at times and the post holder will be required to follow safe manual handlingpractices to ensure deliveries are received, booked in and transported to theirend destination safely and efficiently. It will occasionally be necessary to travel to other Trust sites to provide cover.

Job Summary - To undertake Supply Chain duties associated with economic ordering, receipting and efficient storage of goods. To promote and maintain a cost effective and proactive inventory management service in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
Location - Procurement and Supplies Department Theatre Stores (Based at WorcesterRoyal Hospital). Countywide travel will be required.
Key Tasks -
1. Deal/distribute any post or incoming correspondencewithin the Supply Chain section.
2. To take receipt, sign for and bookin delivered goods whilst reporting any discrepancies and taking theappropriate corrective action, and liaising with suppliers when items do notarrive as expected.
3. To undertake activities regarding stock movementanalysis and re-order level assessment in conjunction with user requirements.
4. To advise and agree upon replenishment levels withauthorised staff in accordance with agreed procedures as part of the SupplyChain Review Programme.
5. To deliver goods to their correct end destination andobtain a signed delivery note where applicable.
6. To continually develop and improve relationships withinternal customers through regular personal contact with a view to developingknowledge of medical and surgical consumables to facilitate the Supply ChainReview Programme.
7. To monitor and control replenishment levels, in-houseand at ward level. To order and maintain optimum stock levels and replenish viaeconomic ordering quantities. Data is to be captured via the use of the handheld PDA and then transmitted to the relevant stock management or inventorymanagement system.
8. Be aware of and adhere to, the correct ethics intransacting in public business. Todisplay a high standard of conduct and a professional approach when in contactwith internal and external customers.
9. To move and distribute materials using the appropriatemanual handling equipment whilst observing Health and Safety Procedures at alltimes.
10. To put away top up items in to agreed stock locationsensuring the stock rotation of goods.
11. To operate mechanical aids in a responsible and safemanner, keeping equipment and working areas safe, clean and tidy whilstensuring compliance to Health and Safety Procedures at all times. Non-compliance to be reported to the line manager.
12. To carry out stock taking duties in relevant areas.
13. Issue stock to internal and external sites adhering toprescribed procedures to facilitate the costing out of materials to theappropriate area.
14. To maintain systems for filing of delivery notes andall associated paperwork.
15. To participate in training sessions to assist inpersonal and departmental development
16. To train, educate and give guidance on orderingprocedures to Trust personnel in the light of changing circumstances.
17. To monitor contract compliance and adviseRequistioners on the most efficient ordering procedures whilst adhering toTrust policies.
18. Carry out Supply Chain staff relief duties at otherlocations as and when required.
19. Deal with queries in a professional and efficientmanner, treating customers as you would wish to be treated and promoting a getit right first time ethos.
20. To arrange the return of products in accordance withprescribed procedures. Liaising with customers and suppliers, obtaining therelevant authorisation and packing the items for despatch where appropriate.
21. To organise and prioritise workloads which havecompeting deadlines, whilst managing these conflicting demands efficiently.
22. Provide advice and information to internal customerswith regards to stock management and product availability by using E-mail,telephone, virtual and face to face meetings.
23. To use reporting programmes to interrogate systems forproduct analysis and provide usage data for budget holders.
24. Be responsible for the day to day security of allgoods, equipment and materials within the materials management workingenvironment.
25. Assist in the implementation of new product ranges ontop up as advised by senior staff as part of the Trust Savings Work plan.
26. To actively contribute to the efficiency of thesection by embracing the core values of the Departmental Strategy .To providethe level of service and performance tomeet the departmental objectives as defined by Senior Management .This requiresbeing flexible in approach to an ever changing ,demanding and dynamic NHSworking environment.
27. To reorder T&O prosthesis and metal work fromimplant records in line with pre agreed top up levels.
28. To ensure stock rooms are kept clean and tidy and freefrom debris in line with Infection Control policies.
