Teaching Personnel are the UK's leading education staffing supplier and we are currently sourcing Teaching Assistants for a number of support staff opportunities in Secondary Schools for the Bedfordshire area from September 2024. 

We are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistants ideally looking for a long-term, or more permanent position in a Secondary School support staff team on a full-time basis. There are many schools looking for learning support for their pupils in KS3 and KS4, where you will be an integral part of their learning and development on all aspects of their academic, social, emotional and physical development.

These positions start initially as temporary with the view to be taken on permanenlty once both parties are happy after 12-16 weeks.  

Day-to-day tasks

As a Learning Support Assistant, you could:

  • Help teachers prepare lesson materials
  • Set up and tidy classrooms for lessons
  • Work with students on a 1:1 or small group basis, supporting their learning
  • Watch, record and report the progress students make
  • Look after children who are upset or unwell
  • Lead classes with help from the teacher

Would you be the right fit?

  • Previous experience in a school is advantageous 
  • Friendly, confident and calm attitude
  • Previous experience working with children or young adults
  • Adaptable to working with children with vulnerable backgrounds
  • An individual with good knowledge of Safeguarding and Keeping Children Safe in Education
  • Be passionate about helping students to succeed in academically, emotionally, socially 
  • Have a calming presence and be able to engage well with the pupils (Year 7 to Year 11)
  • You will be dedicated to ensure that all children achieve their very best
  • Contribute to the values, ethos and the development of the school
