Ecology and biodiversity is arelatively new offering for Lanpro complementing our strongplanning and design capability. The role will suit you if you areexcited by leadership autonomy andownership.

JobPurpose
As a Technical Director for theNorthern region you will be responsible for all aspects of growingand managing a successful ecology business at a divisional level.Though you will report to our Director of Ecology you will have theautonomy to drive change deliver excellence and grow our clientbase in the regions under your accountability. You will besupported by the wider Ecology team which continues to growthroughout Cambridge London and Norwich and you will be empoweredto consider your resourcing needs to build success in the Northernregion.


The role will suit you if youare a natural people leader and manager who gains significant jobsatisfaction from seeing their team flourish. You will steer thecareer paths of your team set a healthy culture and lead byexample. You will take a leadership role in planning projects andcoordinating and overseeing delivery. You will be an ambassador forthe company undertaking business development through building uponexisting client relationships and actively seeking opportunitiesfor future business whilst also taking a leadership role indeveloping the teams corecompetencies.

KeyResponsibilities
Developing ourselves andothers

  • Builds and leads a successfulecology and biodiversity team based in the Northern area (ideallybased in York however remote candidates alsoconsidered)
  • Demonstrates effective managementand the ability to influence and persuade across a range ofstakeholders both internally andexternally.
  • Helps to ensure all members of theteam are effectively developed and is committed to personal CPD inpursuit of continuous learning andselfimprovement.
  • Brings fresh ideas to teamgrowth and structure in a challenging recruitmentmarket.
  • Inputs into team objectives anddelegates effectively.
  • Takes responsibility forline management coaching mentoring training wellbeing andperformance management.

Collaborationand innovation

  • Ability to workcollaboratively and iteratively within a multidisciplinary designteam.
  • Champions the Lanpro client centricagenda internally and externally.
  • Establishesconsolidates and builds on relationships with new and existingclients and colleagues.
  • Maintains strong clientsector and discipline networking across the York Manchester andScotland area.
  • Ensures client expectations aremanaged appropriately and that their needs are identified and met(or exceeded).
  • Provides technical input intoprojects and bids and uses technical knowledge to identify andrealise new clientopportunities.

  • Develops business opportunitieswith new and existing clients with little or no support anddemonstrates excellent judgement and ability in targeting strategicand profitable projects.
  • Makes decisions at atactical level with some strategic input to overall functionalstrategy and regional Business Plan.
  • Freedom tomake decisions affecting the function within the overall businessstrategy.
  • Has a strong professional profile andreputation both internally and within the industry and utilisesthis effectively to leverage businessopportunities.

Delivering ourprojects

  • Day to day line management ofthe Northern ecology and biodiversityteam.
  • Performs a challenging range and varietyof complex technical and professional activities in the pursuit ofproject excellence.
  • Ensures compliance andadherence to all applicable SHEQ procedures for self andothers.
  • Takes a key role in projects withinrelevant specialist field.
  • Project Director /Project Manager / Discipline Lead for projects of all scales andcomplexities.
  • Maintains continuing professionaldevelopment in accordance with the requirements ofCIEEM.

Qualifications& Experience

  • Inexcess of 10 years relevant experience.
  • MCIEEM/ CEcol / CEnv preferred.
  • Leadership /management experiencepreferred.
