Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated andorganised individual to join our team as a Patient Navigator at our busydoctors surgery, in the heart of Islington. As the first point of contact forpatients, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in providingexcellent customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of the receptionarea. We are looking for either a full time, or part time person to join our team.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities include but arenot limited to:

Greet and assist patients in afriendly and professional manner.

Schedule and manageappointments, ensuring efficient use of the doctors time.

Answer phone calls, respond toinquiries, and direct calls to the appropriate staff members.

Maintain patient records andupdate information as needed, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

Verify and collect patientinsurance information and process payments.

Coordinate with medical staff tohandle patient inquiries, prescription requests, and other administrativetasks.

Manage the waiting area toensure a comfortable and organised environment for patients.

Handle incoming and outgoingmail and other administrative duties as required.

Stay informed about clinicpolicies, procedures, and services to provide accurate information to patients.

Collaborate with colleagues toensure a cohesive and efficient workflow in the reception area.

About us

We are a large practice with over 12,000 registered patients, based close to Islington Green in the busy Angel area. We are made up of GP's, Nurses, Nursing Associates, Healthcare Assistants, Pharmacists, Reception, Admin and Managers. We are a friendly and hardworking team with a good record of staff retention. We have great clincians who provide patients with great care and we are very proud of our team.

Duties and Responsibilities

Telephone Duties

Using EMIS system making/cancelling/updating appointments.

Updating patient records non-clinical

Ambulance transport bookings

Home visit requests

Deal with general enquiries

Contacting other providers hospitals

Reception Duties

Register new patients and temporary residents

Greet and direct patients/visitors

Making appointments/e-consults/test requests/booking long term condition checks

Handing out prescriptions, letters and copies of test results

Ensure outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift, as necessary

Respond to needs of doctors and nurses during surgery

Collect payments from patients for non-NHS services and give receipts

Deal with general enquiries and inform patients how to make a complaint

Prescriptions

Dealing with queries relating to repeat prescriptions or passing to Richard/Christine

General

Input and extract information from Practice computer system

Observe health and safety guidelines at all times

General housekeeping ( keeping reception and waiting areas tidy, keeping noticeboard up to date)

Make refreshments for doctors and other team members, participate in washing up

Any other reasonable duties as necessary

1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 2. Strong organisational and multitasking abilities. 3. Proficient in using computer systems (training will be given on specific programmes) 4. Previous experience not necessary 5. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain patient confidentiality. 6.
