RESPONSIBILITIES

As Laboratory Assistant your responsibilities will include:

Carrying out routine laboratory tasks including the preparation of sterile media, equipment and laboratory consumables for Process & Development, Quality and Production requirements. Conducting routine maintenance and cleaning of the laboratory and equipment to ensure good laboratory hygiene and minimise contamination. Ensure adherence to the laboratory disinfectant regime. Overseeing the stock of laboratory consumables and efficiently manage laundry tasks. Providing assistance to the Process Microbiologist in maintaining nematode and bacteria isolates, while also supporting development trials through tasks such as trial set up, sample analysis, and data entry.

QUALIFICATIONS

GCSE or equivalent in Science/ Mathematics & English grade 5 or above. An NVQ in laboratory science is beneficial. Experience working in a laboratory and used to following standard operating procedures and adhering to all safety standards. Experience in an aseptic laboratory environment would be desirable.  Understanding of sterility and importance of aseptic handling. In addition, must have good attention to detail and able to demonstrate delivering standard lab activities to a high standard. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
