We are working closely with a Secondary School situated in a suburb of Milton Keynes who are recruiting for an English Teacher for a fixed term contract from September - December 2024

  • Location: Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire
  • Start date: September 2024
  • Contract: Full-time, Fixed Term contract until at least December 2024 
  • Pay: £143-200 (Main Pay Scale for Qualified Teachers), paid as a daily rate through us then salary directly offered with school

The role would involve teaching GCSE English to KS3 and KS4.This would be a temporary position only, but could lead to future permanent opportunities. 

If you are a Qualified Teacher or Instructor specialising in English, with at least 1 year experience at least teaching to Key Stage 4, we would love to hear from you.

Key points for success

  • An experienced Instructor or Qualified English Teacher, and able to deliver to at least KS4
  • Special considerations to a English Graduate with future ambitions to be a Teacher
  • Great knowledge of the English GCSE syllabus 
  • Previous experience supporting or teaching in a Secondary School
  • Present a 'can do' and positive attitude to inspire pupils
  • Able to motivate and inspire, whilst using your own initiative 
  • Willingness to learn and support others
  • Patient and friendly attitude 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Plan English lessons to suit the individual needs of the students to the GCSE syllabus
  • Enable pupils to gain a good command of both spoken and written English language, equipping them with the ability to express themselves and their ideas in a variety of situations.
  • Teaching grammar and writing skills
  • Encourage pupils to read and analyse literature, improving their critical thinking skills.
  • Play a key role in engaging pupils and helping them reach their potential through your own passion for the subject.

This Secondary School prides themselves on providing an education that enriches and enhances the lives of their students and young people by enabling them to make the most of outstanding learning opportunities within and beyond the curriculum. 

At Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 Language and Literature are taught as separate disciplines, with a different class teacher and exercise book for each subject. They also offer both subjects to A Level.

The school implement independent study for pupils, designed to develop creative and critical thinking.  Set according to the school homework timetable, tasks are either specified by the class teacher or selected by the student from the topic task bank.  

The curriculum is enhanced by a varied programme of enrichment.  Author visits and workshops offer opportunities to be inspired by real life writers and theatre performances provide a range of page to stage interpretations.  The Library is a hub for English enrichment with regular themed events designed to encourage appreciation of national literary initiatives and school based projects.

Pay

You would be paid to the National Teacher Pay Scale salary between M1 - M6 on a daily rate equivalent.
