NHS Dumfries & Galloway is seeking a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist to fulfil the vital role of Director of Pharmacy. This position plays a pivotal role in providing expert advice and support to the Board, its committees, its Health & Social Care Partnership, and to health and social care professionals to facilitate informed decision-making.
The successful candidate will undertake the responsibilities of the Chief Pharmacist for NHS Dumfries & Galloway, as defined in the Pharmacy (Preparation and Dispensing Errors – Hospital and Other Pharmacy Services) Order 2022 and the Medicines Act 1968, and will be the Board’s Accountable Officer – Controlled Drugs, as defined in the UK Health Act 2006 and The Controlled Drugs (Supervision of Management and Use) Regulations 2006.
The Director of Pharmacy will assume responsibility for both the strategic and leadership of pharmacy services, collaborating across NHS Dumfries & Galloway and its Health and Social Care Partnership to ensure the delivery of agreed standards of pharmaceutical care, maintaining safety, effectiveness, and resource and service efficiency. Strong team-working and interpersonal skills are essential, coupled with the ability to provide professional leadership to drive service innovation and development to ensure our service's continued success and adaptability in response to the evolving health and care landscape.
