SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCLINICAL1. To undertake as delegated by School Nurse Band 6 school health surveillance, screening tests/health interviews in accordance with the Healthy Child Wales Participate in the prevention and control of outbreaks of infectious disease. Participate in administration of immunisation, following policies and Provide support and advice to families regarding the health and welfare of their Undertake home visits delegated by School Nurse Band 6 as required taking account of the Health Board Lone Worker Undertake health promotion activities in a variety of settings as delegated by School Nurse Band To be knowledgeable of the effects of the (chronic condition) on the child and Assisting/supporting School Nurse Band 6 in identifying health needs of identified target area.EDUCATION1. To attend in-service training course and study sessions as required following identification of learning needs and Individual Performance.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse to become part of the School Nursing Service in Wrexham area, as a member of the school nurse team which has responsibility for the health needs of the children and young people in a designated area

The School Staff Nurse will have delegated responsibility for allocated schools/workload.

It will involve undertaking immunisation programmes, health assessments, health promotion both within the community and schools. It will also involve acting in accordance with local Safeguarding procedures and the All Wales Child Protection procedures.

This post is fixed term / secondment for 12 months due to the needs of the service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
