Hutcheon Mearns have been engaged by an oil service company to source a Group Accountant on a full time, staff basis. Our client is a growing Private Equity backed business which services both the oil and gas and renewables industry. This role is based in Kintore with hybrid and flexible working. This role will provide support to the Finance Director and the Chief Financial Officer and interface with the finance teams across the group and be responsible for consolidating results for the group. To be considered, you will be qualified or working towards a qualification with extensive accounting experience.

The Opportunity 

Prepare monthly management accounts and Balance Sheet notes for group companies Prepare and issue monthly management charges from group companies to group subsidiaries Update and issue monthly Transfer Pricing file Prepare consolidated monthly management accounts with supporting variance analysis and commentary to budget and reforecast Prepare and review additional backup schedules for monthly consolidated financial reporting pack Carry out monthly group balance sheet reviews and report on old and slow-moving items Update and review monthly intercompany matrix reconciliation and liaise with Regional Accountants re clearing variances and netting off Debtor and Creditor balances Consolidate weekly cashflow with analysis of movements from prior week’s forecast Post bank transactions in Sage 200 and perform weekly / monthly bank reconciliations for group companies Place Foreign Currency trades Prepare and reconcile Quarterly Group VAT returns Review and monitor group debtors and creditors ageing, and assist with credit control Prepare annual audit and tax packs and reconcile management accounts to year end statutory accounts Prepare and update applicable procedures that pertain to the role Provide holiday/absence or peak workload support to other areas of the business where practicable Proactively suggest and implement process improvements Provide training and mentoring to newer / more junior members of the finance team

Background and Experience

An experienced accountant with extensive experience working as a Management Accountant or newly qualified (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA) Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision Experienced and competent user of Sage200 and Excel Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidential information High levels of attention to detail Good communication skills and ability to foster effective working relationships Ability to deal with fast moving projects Must have the ability to work on their own or as part of a team
