About the role
Moredun Scientific (a commercial subsidiary of the Moredun Foundation, a registered charity)
is seeking applicants for the role of a Laboratory Assistant within the in-vitro Biosafety division.
The successful candidate will join a team of people involved in the conduct of microbiological
safety studies evaluating a range of samples and products from the manufacture of human
biopharmaceuticals.
Moredun Scientific is a contract research organisation specialising in biosafety testing of
biopharmaceuticals, animal health and aquaculture product development. For more

The role involves undertaking routine laboratory procedures in support of scientific staff. This
includes:
• Maintenance of equipment and facilities to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
compliance levels.
• Ordering, receipt and booking-in of laboratory consumables and reagents.
• Management of stock levels.
• Equipment checks.
• Supporting the receipt of shipments and booking in of test samples.
• Laboratory cleaning in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures
This post is primarily in the in-vitro Biosafety department but assistance may occasionally be
required by other departments
Experience required
• Good interpersonal and communications skills and effective organisational abilities.
• Attention to detail. An ability to provide accurate verbal updates and make accurate
written records and data entries.
• Working knowledge Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
• Previous experience of working in a laboratory is desirable.
• Previous experience of working in a quality-oriented environment is desirable
