Lab Technician

CTG is seeking to fill a Lab Technician opening for our client in Elgin, IL.

Location: Elgin, IL

Duration: 8 months

Duties:

Responsible for analytical and physical testing, tensile testing, DMA - dynamic material analysis, IR. Curing and preparing UV curable films and samples for testing Tensile testing, peel adhesion testing, coefficient of friction testing DMA testing for Tg, modulus, tear resistance Degree of cure of UV curable coatings via IR analysis Viscosity testing including temperature viscosity curves Refractive index testing of both liquid and solid samples Color analysis of both liquid and solid samples Use of titration equipment Will also be responsible for formulations - mixing and blending lab size formulations.

Skills:

Lab skills – understand lab safety, good basic lab skills, good documentation skills. Use of electronic laboratory notebook or equivalence Must have strong work ethic, needs to be able to work independently and coordinate work with the group. Will be standing most of the day in the lab. Must have good fine motor skills. Patience to handle delicate samples.

Experience:

Analytical chemistry experience would be a plus

Education:

Bachelor’s in: Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Physics, Material Science, Chemical Engineer or other science based degree. Will also hire candidates with an Associate’s in science and some lab experience.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
