We are Building Atlas. Our vision is a fullysustainable commercial real estate sector. Our mission is to makethis a reality through rapidly scaling building retrofits: the mostsustainable building is the one that already exists. With azerotouch approach requiring nothing but the addresses of buildingswe help owners of commercial real estate portfolios: (1) find thebest path to retrofitting their buildings; (2) avoid stranding riskand increase the value of their assets; (3) and get access topreferential financing and delivery partners to get the workdone.

Our goal is to get as many buildings aspossible retrofitted so we recommend retrofit measures that bringthe highest return on investment. Choosing the right building tofocus on requires understanding its physics (building envelope andthe energy systems) its current lease terms and use its currentvalue and future green premium and the value of energy flexibilityin a future grid. We gather all this data and build machinelearning models to find the optimum retrofits across a portfolio ofbuildings.

Were looking for a creative data scientist/ ML engineer who ideally has experience in the built environment.Youll be passionate about finding insights from messy data andworking in a scrappy startup to drive our retrofit recommendationsthat will help customers reduce the carbon footprint of theirbuildings.

Tasks
  • Architectand implement data pipelines / ETL processes to support processingof data about buildings
  • Find relevant insightsacross these multiple datasets
  • Build algorithmsand design experiments to merge and interrogatedata
  • Prototype retrofit recommendationmodels
  • Collaborate with the engineering team toincorporate data science results into userfacingapplications
  • Work with customers to identifyuseful data insights that we can show in ourplatform
Requirements

MinimumQualifications:

  • Bachelors degree inComputer Science Data Science Engineering or a relatedfield
  • 2 years of professional experience indata science and analysis
  • Competency in PythonR or other modelling languages and Jupyternotebooks
  • Experience building machine learningmodels
  • Familiarity with database technologies(e.g. PostgreSQL MySQL)

Preferredqualifications:

  • Experience withgeographic or urban datasets: addresses building characteristicsenergy or GIS data
  • Experience with Google Clouddata processing and analysis tools Dataflow BigQuery Colab VertexAI
  • Experience with enterprise SaaSdevelopment
  • Experience working in a fastgrowingstartup environment
