Clinical Engineering Support Bank (Band 4)

Opportunity to support a innovative team of Clinical Engineers. This is a temporary bank opportunity for a period of 3 months, including electrical safety testing to medical standards, commissioning low risk medical devices into clinical use along with departmental audits. Main duties of the job

• Provide clinical technical services to all departments containing specified medical devices.
• Guided by procedures, expert advice, mentoring and training calibrate and maintain electronic equipment for use on patients, using various calibration methods and software tools.
• Using the appropriate tools and test equipment, repair and safety check medical devices within all healthcare environments.
• Understand and clearly communicate the nature of problems and faults, with professional and where necessary patient end users.
• Exercise judgement as to the cause of the problem whether relating to user error, equipment failure or environmental issues.
• Rectify equipment faults, undertaking repairs to component level with complete understanding of the requirements for staff, patient and system safety.
• Carry out acceptance testing of new equipment and maintain accurate equipment database by producing work requests, update equipment test records and service history by adding information onto planned preventative maintenance system.
• Liaise with equipment suppliers and external bodies regarding all aspects of medical device operation and safety.
