Overview

We are looking for an Area Manager to join the programme development team within Immerse Education - a leading provider of educational experiences to students across the world, comprising residential summer schools and online short courses.

As the Area Manager for North America, you will be responsible for the operational excellence of multiple residential summer schools across the region. This includes our programmes in New York, San Francisco, Boston and Toronto. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the successful delivery of these programmes during the summer period. This position requires travel to your respective summer school locations before and/or during the delivery period.

Your success will be measured by meeting set project deadlines, ensuring that programmes operate smoothly during the summer period. You will need to be quick on your feet and be able to find solutions for any last minute changes and/or emergency situations in a calm and efficient manner. 

As part of your role, you must ensure that all external parties adhere to the same highest standards of provision as Immerse. You will work collaboratively with colleagues from other Immerse departments and will be responsible for maintaining positive and professional relationships with our host colleges and suppliers.

We are looking for an ambitious and motivated individual who is prepared for hard work. During the peak operational period, the Area Manager will be on emergency call for their summer schools, and must be prepared to provide a high level of out-of-hours management support. Our ideal candidate is someone with a background in the education industry, preferably with prior experience in operations, who understands the challenges of the summer school environment and is capable of making tough decisions whilst under pressure. The candidate would ideally have experience working in North America or with USA/Canadian educational institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and executing all operational delivery of residential courses in North America
  • Pre-booking all cultural and social activities 
  • Supporting college managers during the operational period
  • Supporting the pastoral team with safeguarding and pastoral enquiries 
  • Ensuring that students' satisfaction with the activities programme exceeds high expectations
  • Assisting with enquiries from student services and the sales team when required
  • Ensuring timely and adequate provision of materials required for the effective delivery of our programmes
  • Assisting with the coordination of airport transfers
  • Supporting with operational delivery in other areas to your assigned one
  • Being on-call throughout the summer delivery period

Requirements

  • At least 2+ years experience in an academic or operational role
  • Good knowledge of North America
  • Understanding of the collegiate system in the USA & Canada
  • Hands on experience with MS Office
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and time-management skills
  • Advantageous: experience working in an operational/academic/programme management role
  • Advantageous: experience with marketing automation tools and CRM systems
