London, United Kingdom Penguin Books Limited Full time

Are you looking for a research role with impact? Do you love books and reading?

Our Audience Insight team, situated within our Brand division, are recruiting for an Audience Insight Executive to turn insight into action.

Your mission will be to further our understanding of how and why people buy and read books across formats and genres - and translating this insight into clear and actionable recommendations for our business which is made up of nine publishing houses.

In this role you will:

Serve as a passionate advocate for the importance of consumer insights and champion the voice of the consumer.

Collaborate with our publishing houses to enhance Author and title campaign activity to support publishing decision-making through the delivery of insightful services.

Contribute to our central insight program by optimising our reader panel, creating trends content for webinars and newsletters.

Manage our audience insight website and data, as well as overseeing our Consumer Connect program,

Take charge of ad hoc insight projects for our publishing houses, Brand department and our Sales teams. This includes defining the brief to analysing findings and communicating results to stakeholders, seeking guidance from senior team members when necessary.

Collaborate with third-party agencies by providing clear briefs and maximising the value of their services.

If that’s caught your attention, here’s what we’re looking for in you:

You’ll have some experience in insight, data or market research, whether from an agency or client-side perspective.

You’ll have some knowledge in research methodologies, encompassing both qualitative and quantitative approaches.

You’ll be comfortable working with third-party data or market platforms and insight resources, adept at drawing insights from multiple sources.

You’ll have a good understanding of consumer behaviours and motivations.

You’ll be proficient in using Microsoft Office suite, including PowerPoint, Excel and Teams.

You’ll be confident in creating and delivering engaging presentations.

You’ll have excellent communication and listening skills, with a receptive attitude towards feedback.

You’ll be highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.

You’ll be capable of working independently and taking ownership of delivering briefs within the specified time and budget.

You’ll have a strong desire to learn and innovate, with a natural curiosity to experiment and explore new approaches to insights.

Our approach to hybrid working:

While our offices are places for you to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, having flexibility about where you work is just as important for doing your best work and for your wellbeing. So, we don’t have a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to how we work in different teams across Penguin Random House UK.

This is a hybrid role, based in our offices in London, as there are activities and meetings that you will need to support in-person. We are happy to discuss hybrid working arrangements with you during your recruitment process.

About Penguin:

We’re the UK’s largest publisher; made up of some 2,000 people and publishing over 1,500 books each year. Our doors are open to all kinds of talent. In a constantly evolving industry, we work hard to stretch the definition of the word publisher. Here, you’ll work with a breadth of talent who all play their part to make each of our books a success. Together, we make books for everyone because a book can change anyone.

Application deadline: Please apply with your CV and cover letter by Monday 27th May. In your cover letter, please tell us why you think you’re a suitable candidate for this position.

What you can expect from us:

Salary: circa £32,000 depending on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits. We will be happy to discuss compensation level in more detail over the course of the interview process.
