Protenergy Natural Foods Corp. is a rapidly growing and profitable mid-size company specializing in the manufacturing of aseptically packaged natural food and beverage products.  Founded in 2004 by industry veterans who recognized an opportunity to bring innovative technologies to the food production industry, the company has a strong track record of growth.  Our parent company, Treehouse Foods of Oak Brook, Illinois, is a food manufacturer servicing primarily the retail grocery and food service distribution channels, and is one of the largest private label food manufacturers in the United States. 

Our Environment:

Protenergy Natural Foods maintains a 24 hour 7 days per week continental shift rotational environment. Shifts are 12 hours, from 7am to 7:30pm (days) or 7:00pm to 7:30am (nights). We maintain a 2-3 rotation, where in fourteen calendar days you will work a total of seven where every other weekend is a long weekend

Position Summary: This position is responsible for preventative maintenance activities, changeovers, volume conversions, break-down troubleshooting and improvement projects in a high paced flexible packaging environment.

Shift: Night

Key Responsibilities may include but not limited to the following:

  • Safety first: Understand and adhere to all safety procedures, utilizing appropriate safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
  • Perform all work in accordance with health and safety standards, rules, regulations and practices of the facility
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failure or breakdowns
  • Repair and perform modifications and/or maintenance on high speed packaging equipment, dismantling and assembling mechanical and electrical equipment, repair and replacement of defective parts as required
  • Maintain, repair and reassemble production equipment: including but not limited to pumps, pasteurizers, valves, pipes, etc.
  • Understand and perform maintenance activities on all support equipment: boiler, air-compressors, condensers, vacuum pumps, water meters, etc.
  • Communicate with various parties on the work performed during shift changeovers
  • Perform preventative maintenance following standards and schedules as outlined in the PM program. This includes lubrication, adjustment, modifications of equipment, cleaning, etc.
  • Follow work instructions and provide recommendations on equipment development and improve related processes
  • Ensure proper lockout/Tagout procedures are followed at all times
  • Control downtime by managing and performing routine preventive maintenance and operation techniques
  • Participate in maintenance improvement projects as required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of 2 years Mechanical/Electrical Technology Diploma/Certificate
  • Currently completing the Apprenticeship Program
  • Experience in maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electro-mechanical equipment that is utilized in the food processing and packaging industry is an asset
  • Experience with high speed flexible packaging equipment is an asset
  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and decision making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working in a diverse and multicultural atmosphere.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (both written & verbal).
  • Ability to work in a multi-skilled, rotating shift environment.
  • Demonstrated regard for personnel and product safety.
