Senior Research Analyst - Packaged Food, China

We are looking for a Senior Research Analyst specializing in the Packaged Food category to join the China Insights Team. This opportunity will offer you the chance to develop your own expertise and be the thought leader in the packaged Food industry, with the opportunity to influence the world’s largest consumer brands and advertising agencies.

What you will be doing

Publishing in-depth reports combining market research and consumer insights: Publish 6-7 China Reports a year covering a variety of consumer markets that demonstrate Mintel’s expertise in the subject field Independently lead the workflow of China Reports including questionnaire design, data analysis, and report writing Mintel China Reports helps our clients identify future opportunities by understanding what Chinese consumers want and why; it also helps to foresee the trends and innovations on a local and global value Write 4-5 pieces of Trending in China content a year under the supervision of research director Mintel Trending in China tackles the consumer goods market from a more product-focused angle, combining with the overall changes in the product side, which aims to sort out the current needs and pain points of consumer categories Gather primary and secondary data relevant to each market, and work with Research Directors to develop accurate market, company, and segmentation data Build relationships with industry contacts to understand the key issues influencing consumers, innovation, and company strategy, identifying the most relevant issues to explore in consumer research Review Mandarin translation of global market and product trend insight content, making sure we use professional and proper terminologies that resonate with local (mandarin-speaking) clients Representing Mintel and delivering client work Handle client service requests related to the subject field Support the commercial team to proactively share Mintel’s insights with clients & prospects in face-to-face meetings Promote Mintel’s brand in the marketplace by supporting marketing and PR activities such as media interviews

Who we are looking for

Insights-led and business acumen : You have strong analytical skills and a critical thinking mindset, which allows you to develop insights from observations and data analysis that have meaningful business implications Food addict who is observant and sensitive to the market :You have a strong interest, the patience to study, and ideally the expertise in the packaged food industry. You enjoy spotting trends and innovations that are emerging in the categories and are willing to try out new launches to get first-hand experiences. Naturally curious : You are naturally curious and great at navigating internal and external data, asking second and third-level questions to see the patterns behind data to craft expert analysis to be used in a business setting. Market researcher : You should have at least 3 years of experience in the market or consumer research, marketing, or consulting role and proven expertise in a cross-category mindset, ideally accumulated from the industry/client side Organized and time management : You have good organizational and planning skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Good writing skills in Chinese and English : You have solid business writing skills and an aesthetic in wording and writing. The experience in writing long articles/essays/reports is a plus. Presentation and good storytelling : you feel comfortable to present in front of internal teams and clients A good University degree and overseas experience is a plus
